Dutch writer recalls documenting Ukraine as war began
Original: Dutch writer: I was trying to show Netherlands what Ukraine is like just as war began
A Dutch writer says their goal was to show people in the Netherlands what Ukraine is like, having done so just as Russia launched its full-scale invasion. The remarks highlight the work of foreign writers and journalists who documented Ukrainian life at the very start of the war, bringing first-hand accounts of the country to Western audiences.
Why now: Continued international attention on Ukraine keeps first-hand accounts from the start of the war in focus.
