A truck factory in Ohio has laid off nearly 1,400 workers, with the job cuts announced just three days before President Donald Trump's rally at a nearby high school. The Associated Press reports the layoffs were large enough to erase an entire year of job growth in the area, and the timing has drawn sharp reactions as political and economic news collide.

Why now: The layoffs landed right before a Trump rally in the same area, making the economic pain politically charged.
