Lower Saxony universities miss out on Excellence status
Original: pressemitteilung
None of Lower Saxony's universities received Excellence status in the latest German Excellence Strategy decision, according to NDR. The result means no university in the state secured the coveted title and the substantial federal funding attached to it, prompting disappointment and discussion about why Lower Saxony came away empty-handed while universities elsewhere succeeded.
Why now: The announcement of new Excellence status winners has just been made, and Lower Saxony's complete failure to win any is a surprising outcome.
