Lukoil's overseas assets will be sold to structures connected to the families of Donald Trump and Steve Witkoff, according to the investigation outlet iStories. The report suggests the Russian oil major's foreign holdings could pass to businesses tied to the US president's family and his special envoy, raising questions about who benefits from the divestment of Russian assets abroad.
Why now: The alleged involvement of the Trump and Witkoff families in acquiring sanctioned Russian assets is politically explosive amid ongoing US-Russia negotiations.
