Demonstrators in Madrid waved posters calling for a general strike during protests in the Spanish capital. Valeria Racu, spokesperson for the Tenants Union, told reporters about the situation as far-right activists, some performing Nazi salutes, attempted to reach demonstrators camped out at the Puerta del Sol square. Tensions between the two groups have raised concerns about further confrontations.

Why now: Ongoing protests and counter-protests in Madrid are creating tension and drawing attention to the call for a general strike.
