The Tabula Rogeriana is a world map in 70 sheets drawn by the Arab geographer and traveller Muhammad al-Idrisi in the 12th century. It was commissioned by Roger II of Sicily and forms an appendix to the so-called Book of Roger, one of the most advanced geographic works of the Middle Ages. Interest in the map centres on its remarkable accuracy and on the cultural encounter between Arab scholarship and the Norman court in Palermo that produced it.
