Aughinish Alumina seeks support amid EU review of Russia exports
Original: Aughinish Alumina seeks support as EU reviews Russia-bound alumina exports
Aughinish Alumina, which operates a major alumina refinery in Ireland, is asking for support as the European Union reviews alumina exports bound for Russia. The company fears the tightening of sanctions policy could affect its business, and is lobbying for its interests while Brussels weighs further restrictions on trade with Russia in the aluminium and alumina sector.
Why now: EU sanctions policy toward Russia is under review, putting the future of the plant's Russia-related alumina trade in question.
