Diplomacy is Now a Crime in Britain, Says Ian Proud
Original: Diplomacy is Now a Crime in Britian /Ian Proud
Ian Proud, a former British diplomat, argues in a new interview that diplomatic work in Britain is being treated as a criminal offence. He claims officials face prosecution risks for routine engagement, a shift he says damages Britain's ability to negotiate abroad. The interview is drawing attention for its blunt assessment of the state of British diplomacy.
Why now: Debate over the treatment of diplomats and free speech in Britain has intensified amid ongoing tensions over the Russia-Ukraine war.
