Burhan praises Egypt's backing of Sudan's state institutions
Original: Burhan praises Egypt’s stance against equating Sudan’s state institutions with militias
Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has praised Egypt's position rejecting any comparison between Sudan's official state institutions and the militias fighting them. The statement underscores Cairo's support for Sudan's armed forces amid the ongoing war with the Rapid Support Forces, a conflict that has devastated the country and displaced millions. Egypt has consistently backed Sudan's formal government structures throughout the crisis.
Why now: Ongoing war in Sudan keeps regional diplomatic alignments like Egypt's support for Burhan in the news.
