Al-Qaeda-Linked Posts Found on Copilot in Attempted Plane Crash
Original: "Al-Qaeda-Related Posts Found on Social Media of Copilot in Attempted Plane Crash"
Reports say the co-pilot involved in an attempted plane crash had posted material linked to al-Qaeda on social media. The discovery has raised questions about the motive behind the incident and whether aviation security and crew vetting procedures missed warning signs. Further details about the flight, the copilot's identity and the investigation have not yet been confirmed.
Why now: The apparent extremist connection to an attempted aircraft attack is prompting concern over aviation security and radicalisation.
