Zema caught with phone in voting booth in Brazil
Original: zema
Romeu Zema, governor of Minas Gerais and a likely 2026 presidential candidate, was photographed using a mobile phone while casting his vote, in breach of electoral court rules. The TSE has warned voters against carrying devices such as phones and smart glasses into voting booths. Zema also drew attention with a campaign line about needing a government 'not so rich in a country with such a poor people'.
Why now: A prominent presidential hopeful breaking voting rules at the ballot box during the 2026 election campaign is attracting heavy political coverage and debate.
