Kristi Noem's Agency Signed Aircraft Deal With Her Donor on Last Day
Original: Kristi Noem’s Agency Gave Her Donor a Lucrative Contract Just Before She Left
Kristi Noem's Homeland Security Department signed a multi-million dollar agreement on her final day to buy five aircraft from a company owned by one of her political donors, according to documents reviewed by the New York Times. The timing of the contract, struck just as the secretary left her post, is raising questions about favoritism and ethics in federal procurement.
Why now: The apparent conflict of interest in a contract awarded to a personal donor on Noem's last day is drawing fresh scrutiny of government ethics.
