Sudan Diplomacy: Foreign Ministry Meets UN on Peace Efforts
Original: Sudan’s FM Undersecretary Discusses Peace in Sudan with Senior UN Political Affairs Official
Sudan's Foreign Ministry Undersecretary held talks with a senior United Nations Political Affairs official focused on prospects for peace in Sudan. The meeting comes as the country's civil war, which began in April 2023 between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, continues to drive humanitarian crisis and displacement. Officials discussed ways to advance peace efforts, though details of the conversation have not been disclosed.
Why now: Sudan's ongoing war and stalled peace efforts make any high-level Sudan-UN diplomatic contact newsworthy.
