Hegseth Forces Out Pentagon Modernization Official
Original: He Wanted to Modernize the Military. Pete Hegseth Forced Him Out
Rolling Stone reports that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth removed a Pentagon official who had pushed to modernize the US military. The departure is being read as part of a broader shake-up of Pentagon leadership under the Trump administration, with critics arguing that reformers focused on modernization are being purged. Details about the official's identity and the exact circumstances of the dismissal remain limited in the initial report.
Why now: A high-profile clash between the Defense Secretary and a modernization-focused official fuels debate over Pentagon leadership changes.
