Original: Northern lights could be visible in more states with 'strong' geomagnetic storm
Forecasters say a strong geomagnetic storm is expected to hit Earth, making the northern lights potentially visible in more US states than usual. Skywatchers in areas that rarely see the aurora are being told to look north on clear nights, as solar activity continues to produce unusually frequent displays this cycle.
Why now: People are excited about a rare chance to see the aurora from states where it is normally invisible.
