Debate flares over whether all religions hold society back
Original: @ JosephMeyer I agree with that, except go say that *all* religions lock society into obsolete beliefs tied to ignorant
A social media exchange about religion has drawn attention, with one commenter agreeing with another user only in part, arguing that all religions lock society into obsolete beliefs tied to ignorant myths. The remark, tagged with atheism, faith and god, frames religion dismissively and invites pushback from believers and nuance from others in the ongoing argument over faith's social role.
Why now: Claims that religion as a whole is harmful reliably provoke heated debate between atheists and believers.
