Hitchens quote on morality without religion circulating again
Original: Religion gets its morals from us. We know what the right thing is without being told by a celestial dictatorship. —Chris
A quote from Christopher Hitchens arguing that religion derives its morals from humanity rather than from God is being shared online: "Religion gets its morals from us. We know what the right thing is without being told by a celestial dictatorship." The line, often cited in atheist and secularist circles, frames ethics as human-made and rejects divine authority as a basis for morality.
Why now: The provocative Hitchens line about religion and morality resonates with ongoing secular vs religious debates online.
