The Snake God Glycon and the Man Who Exposed It●the snake with a mans face: glycon, alexander and the man who tried to kill a god with a book Somewhere around the 150s𝕏xIT115 h ago

Around 150 AD, in the town of Abonoteichus on the Black Sea coast of Paphlagonia, in what is now northern Turkey, a snake god named Glycon appeared, complete with a human-like face. The story is being retold alongside that of the satirist Lucian, who wrote a book trying to expose the god and its prophet Alexander as a fraud, making it a striking ancient tale of religion, showmanship and debunking.
