A small boat carrying migrants was reported heading towards England's south coast near Gosport, prompting protesters to gather locally, the London Evening Standard reports. The incident involved French waters coordination and RNLI involvement, and comes amid ongoing debate in the UK over Channel crossings, border enforcement and the role of rescue services in migrant arrivals.
Why now: Channel migrant crossings remain a highly charged political issue in the UK, and any arrival drawing protests reignites that debate.
