Claims of plague outbreak in Russia spark speculation
Original: Plague outbreak in Russia due to biolab leak. Meanwhile, an outbreak of populism in Ukraine
Claims are circulating that a plague outbreak has occurred in Russia and that it resulted from a leak at a biological laboratory. The same commentary pairs this with criticism of rising populism in Ukraine, drawing a pointed contrast between the two countries. No official confirmation of a plague outbreak or laboratory leak has been cited, and the framing appears tied to ongoing Russia-Ukraine information battles.
Why now: Ongoing war-related propaganda narratives and distrust of official Russian health information keep such claims in wide circulation
