Original: Hegseth builds a Pentagon 'spiritual fitness' bureau — with zero oversight between it and his desk
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has established a 'spiritual fitness' bureau at the Pentagon that reportedly reports directly to his office with no intervening oversight. Critics are raising concerns about the separation of religion and the military chain of command, while supporters view it as a move to bolster service members' morale and resilience.
Why now: The lack of oversight and religious framing of a new Pentagon office is drawing scrutiny and debate.
