US Army tests counter-drone technology at Mexican border
Original: US Army tests counter-drone tech at Mexican border as cartel drone use rises
The US Army is testing counter-drone technology along the border with Mexico, according to Reuters. The move comes as Mexican drug cartels increasingly use small drones for surveillance and other operations near the frontier. The tests reflect growing concern in the US military and border agencies about the threat posed by inexpensive, commercially available drones in the hands of criminal organisations.
Why now: Rising cartel drone activity near the US border has prompted new military counter-drone testing, drawing news attention.
