Jack Smith testifies before Senate Judiciary Committee on Trump probes
Original: WATCH LIVE: Jack Smith testifies before Senate Judiciary Committee as GOP targets past Trump probes
Former special counsel Jack Smith is testifying publicly before the Senate Judiciary Committee, in a session Republicans on the panel are using to scrutinise the federal investigations he led into Donald Trump. Smith prosecuted Trump over the January 6 events and the handling of classified documents before the cases were dropped after Trump's 2024 election win. The hearing is being broadcast live and is drawing heavy attention.
Why now: It is a rare public testimony from the prosecutor who brought two federal criminal cases against Trump, now under GOP-led examination.
