Whitney Museum Union Ratifies Contract Ahead of Planned Strike

Original: Whitney Museum Union Ratifies Contract on Eve of Strike

The union representing workers at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York has ratified a contract just as members were preparing to go on strike. The vote averted a planned walkout at one of the country's most prominent museums, following labor negotiations. Details of the contract terms have not been widely reported.

Why now: Labor organizing at major cultural institutions is drawing renewed public attention, and a strike being averted at the last minute is significant news.
