Tillis calls his vote for Hegseth his biggest career regret
Original: Sen. Tillis says his vote for Hegseth was 'biggest regret of my career' in new book
Senator Thom Tillis says backing Pete Hegseth's confirmation as Defense Secretary was the biggest regret of his career, in remarks made in a new book. The North Carolina Republican's admission is drawing attention for its candor about a high-profile Trump Cabinet vote and what it suggests about doubts within the GOP over Hegseth's leadership of the Pentagon.
Why now: A sitting Republican senator publicly disavowing a vote for a Trump Cabinet secretary is rare and politically consequential.
