Tillis calls his vote for Hegseth his biggest career regret
Original: Sen. Tillis says his vote for Hegseth was 'biggest regret of my career' in new book
Senator Thom Tillis says his vote to confirm Pete Hegseth as defense secretary was the 'biggest regret of my career', according to his new book. The admission from the North Carolina Republican stands out given he backed Hegseth's contentious confirmation earlier this year, and it adds his voice to criticism of the defense secretary's tenure.
Why now: Tillis's public reversal on a high-profile confirmation vote is striking, coming as scrutiny of Hegseth's leadership grows.
