England spinner Shoaib Bashir is reportedly set to keep his ECB central contract despite a limited role in recent Test matches. The news has drawn reaction from cricket fans, some voicing surprise that the young off-spinner continues to be backed by England's management even with modest on-field returns, while others see it as a sign of long-term faith in his development.

Why now: England's decision to back a lightly used young spinner in its central contract list is seen as a notable and debated call by the ECB.
