Meme labels coming year 'the year of the orange disaster'
Original: The # year of the orange # desaster 😱 # politics # future # meme # humanity # crises # war # terror # climate # Democrac
A widely shared political meme declares the coming period 'the year of the orange disaster', attaching the label to a long list of fears: war, terror, climate change, inflation, gas prices, threats to democracy and human rights. The 'orange' reference points to Donald Trump, and the item captures a mood of alarm about politics and the global future rather than a single concrete event.
Why now: Anxiety about Donald Trump's political return and its perceived consequences for war, climate, prices and democracy is being expressed through satire.
