Far-right figures from US, Europe to gather at Israel conference
Original: US, Israeli and European far-right figures to gather for conference in Israel
Prominent far-right political figures from the United States, Israel and Europe are set to meet at a conference in Israel, drawing scrutiny over the international networking of nationalist movements. Sebastian Gorka, the US counter-terrorism official, had been scheduled to speak, but the White House says he will no longer attend. The event is raising questions about the mainstreaming of far-right alliances across Western democracies and their relationship with the Israeli government.
Why now: The withdrawal of a Trump administration official from the event has drawn fresh attention to the gathering of international far-right figures.
