US Donor-Advised Funds Channel Millions to India's Far-Right Groups
Original: US DAFs Donate Millions to Groups Linked to India’s Far-Right
An investigation by Bellingcat reports that donor-advised funds in the United States have channelled millions of dollars to organisations linked to India's far-right. Donor-advised funds let individuals and foundations give money to charities anonymously, making it difficult to trace the original source of the funding. The findings raise questions about transparency in US charitable giving and its role in financing political and religious movements abroad.
Why now: The new Bellingcat investigation into anonymous US funding of far-right Indian groups has just been published, drawing attention to charity transparency and foreign influence.
