Sudan's army chief vows to fight until every inch retaken
Original: Sudan’s Burhan vows to continue military campaign until ‘every inch’ retaken
Sudan's army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has pledged to press on with the military campaign against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces until the country's territory is fully retaken, saying the army will fight for 'every inch' of Sudan. The pledge comes as the war, which erupted in April 2023, continues to displace millions and fuel one of the world's worst humanitarian crises.
Why now: Ongoing fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces keeps Burhan's statements in the news.
