Sudan's Burhan vows to fight until every inch retaken

Original: Sudan’s Burhan vows to continue military campaign until ‘every inch’ retaken

Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has vowed to continue the military campaign until 'every inch' of the country is retaken. The pledge signals no imminent end to the war that has ravaged Sudan since fighting broke out in April 2023, and comes as government forces claim advances against the rival Rapid Support Forces.

Why now: Burhan's statement signals an escalation or continuation of Sudan's civil war, drawing international attention.
