Calvin and Hobbes strip on parenting goes viral again
Original: A quotation from Bill Watterson CALVIN: Your polls are slipping Dad. Better get with it. CALVIN’S DAD: Calvin, being you
A Bill Watterson quotation from the classic comic strip Calvin and Hobbes is circulating, in which Calvin warns his father that his polls are slipping and he should 'get with it'. His dad replies that being a dad is not an elected position, prompting Calvin to ask whether he governs 'with dictatorial impunity'. Readers are sharing it as a sharp, funny take on parental authority.
Why now: The strip's sly political framing of parenting is resonating with people sharing it widely.
