Sudan's al-Burhan rejects talks, vows to retake all territory from RSF
Original: Sudan’s al-Burhan rejects talks, vows to retake all territory from RSF
Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has ruled out negotiations with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, pledging to recapture all territory held by the group. The declaration signals a hardening of Khartoum's stance in the civil war that has devastated Sudan since April 2023, as the army presses offensives against RSF positions across the country.
Why now: Ongoing fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF keeps statements from the warring leaders in the spotlight.
