Israeli demolition in East Jerusalem displaces 69 Palestinians
Original: Israeli demolition in East Jerusalem displaces 69 Palestinians Sixty-nine Palestinians – more than half of them children
Sixty-nine Palestinians, more than half of them children, were displaced on Tuesday after Israeli authorities approved the demolition of their residential building in the At Tur area of East Jerusalem, according to UN aid officials. The demolition adds to ongoing displacement of Palestinian families in the occupied city, where Israeli authorities routinely carry out demolitions they say lack permits but Palestinians and aid groups describe as discriminatory.
Why now: The UN's report of a mass displacement of families, mostly children, has drawn renewed attention to demolitions in East Jerusalem.
