Israeli demolition in East Jerusalem displaces 69 Palestinians
Original: Israeli demolition in East Jerusalem displaces 69 Palestinians Sixty-nine Palestinians – more than half of them children
Israeli authorities demolished a residential building in the At Tur area of East Jerusalem on Tuesday, displacing 69 Palestinians, more than half of them children, according to the UN humanitarian office. The demolitions come as part of a wider pattern of displacement in occupied East Jerusalem that aid agencies have repeatedly condemned.
Why now: Ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinians keeps demolition and displacement news in focus, and UN reporting of child displacement draws wide attention.
