North Carolina wildlife agency warns bears are hungry
Original: Wildlife Agency cautions bear appetites are at seasonal high
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is warning residents that bears are eating at a seasonal high as they enter hyperphagia in late summer and fall, feeding heavily to build fat for winter. The agency advises people to remove bird feeders, secure garbage and avoid leaving pet food outside to prevent bears from visiting homes.
Why now: Bears are actively seeking food near communities, prompting warnings about preventing conflicts.
