Wildlife agency warns bear appetites at seasonal high
Original: Wildlife Agency cautions bear appetites are at seasonal high
A wildlife agency is cautioning residents that bears are eating at their highest rates of the season, likely as they bulk up before winter. Officials are urging people in bear country to secure trash, remove bird feeders and avoid leaving food outdoors so the animals do not become conditioned to human food sources.
Why now: Bears are intensively feeding in the run-up to winter, raising the risk of human-bear conflicts in affected communities.
