New Browser Tool Auto-Blurs Personal Data Locally
Original: Show HN: Smart Blur – Auto-Blur PII in the Browser, with a OpenAI Local Model
A developer has launched Smart Blur, a browser-based tool that automatically detects and blurs personally identifiable information on screen, using a locally run OpenAI model so data never leaves the device. Early reaction on Hacker News is modest but interested, with discussion centring on privacy benefits and how reliably the model spots sensitive details.
Why now: Privacy-conscious developers are drawn to on-device tools that reduce the risk of leaking personal data during screen sharing or screenshots.
