Original: Sudan war: Burhan rejects talks and vows to defeat RSF
Sudan's army leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has ruled out negotiations with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and pledged to defeat them on the battlefield, deepening the country's devastating war. His comments come as fighting continues across Sudan, displacing millions and fueling one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. Observers say the rejection of talks dims prospects for a near-term ceasefire.
Why now: Burhan's public refusal to negotiate signals an escalation of the Sudan conflict and dashes hopes for peace talks.
