Trump Urges AI to Speed Science While Cutting Research Funds
Original: Trump Calls on AI to Speed Up Science—While Continuing to Defund It
President Trump is calling for artificial intelligence to accelerate scientific discovery even as his administration continues cutting federal research funding. Critics say the gap between promoting AI as a science booster and defunding the agencies that produce basic research undercuts the agenda, raising questions about how US science will sustain the talent and data that AI-driven progress depends on.
Why now: The contradiction between promoting AI-driven science and cutting research budgets is drawing criticism.
