Trump orders firing squad execution for Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan

Original: nidal hasan

Donald Trump has ordered that Nidal Hasan, the US Army major sentenced to death for the 2009 Fort Hood shooting that killed 12 soldiers and one civilian, face execution by firing squad. Hasan opened fire at the Texas army base in one of the deadliest attacks on a US military installation. The order renews attention on a case stalled for years by legal appeals.

Why now: The announcement of a firing squad execution for a long-death-row inmate is new and highly unusual, drawing wide attention.
