Trump awards top US science honours to Musk and tech executives
Original: Trump gives top US science awards to Elon Musk and other tech executives
President Donald Trump has awarded the United States' top science awards to Elon Musk and several other technology executives, according to Al Jazeera. The decision hands the country's highest scientific honours to figures from industry rather than career researchers, a move likely to draw debate over the direction of US science policy.
Why now: The choice to honour tech executives rather than traditional scientists is controversial and politically charged.
