Trump awards top US science honours to Elon Musk and tech executives
Original: Trump gives top US science awards to Elon Musk and other tech executives
President Donald Trump has given the United States' top science awards to Elon Musk and several other technology executives, according to Al Jazeera. The decision places industry leaders among recipients of honours traditionally associated with scientific research, drawing attention to the administration's approach to recognising achievement in science and technology.
Why now: The choice of tech executives over traditional scientists for the nation's highest science awards is contentious and newsworthy.
