Original: Labor is ‘taking the piss’ with pre-COP climate conference
Australia's Labor government is facing accusations it is 'taking the piss' with its hosting of a pre-COP climate conference, with critics suggesting the event amounts to empty posturing rather than genuine climate action. The criticism reflects frustration among climate advocates that the government's rhetoric on emissions is not matched by its policies, drawing attention ahead of the main COP summit.
Why now: Critics and climate advocates are venting frustration at what they see as hypocrisy in the government's climate positioning ahead of COP.
