Original: nidal hasan

The Pentagon says the US military will publicly execute former Army major Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter, by firing squad, and will livestream the event. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says the public can watch, marking the first US military firing squad execution since the Second World War, a decision approved by President Trump. Hasan was convicted for the 2009 Fort Hood attack that killed 13 people.

Why now: News that the US will hold its first military firing squad execution since WWII, livestreamed to the public, is drawing worldwide attention.
