High school students are escalating protests after one school burned down and entrances to around 400 others were blocked, pressuring the government to expedite approval of 3,000 new teacher hires. Commenters say the movement won't halt its demonstrations and blockades despite the concession, and report the protests have spread to Belgium and Italy, with housing grievances also fueling unrest.
Why now: The government's concession of 3,000 new teachers shows the blockades are working, so attention is on whether protests will continue and spread.
