Fort Hood shooter's execution by firing squad to be livestreamed

Original: nidal malik hasan

The Pentagon says the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, the US Army major behind the 2009 Fort Hood shooting that killed 13 people, will be carried out by firing squad and livestreamed to the public. The rare decision to broadcast an execution has drawn attention to the long-delayed case and renewed debate over how the military carries out death sentences.

Why now: News that a military execution will be livestreamed is highly unusual, prompting fresh interest in a case delayed for over a decade.
