Trump awards Elon Musk the National Medal of Science
Original: Trump awards SpaceX founder Elon Musk National Medal of Science
President Donald Trump has awarded Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, the National Medal of Science, one of the United States' highest scientific honours. The decision is drawing attention given Musk's high profile in aerospace and technology, and his close political relationship with Trump. Commenters are debating whether the award recognises genuine scientific achievement or reflects political alignment, making it a talking point across both science and political communities.
Why now: The honour pairs a polarising tech billionaire with a politically charged presidential award, prompting debate over its merits.
