Trump awards Elon Musk National Medal of Science
Original: Trump awards SpaceX founder Elon Musk National Medal of Science
President Donald Trump has awarded Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and Tesla, the National Medal of Science, one of the United States' highest scientific honours. The move honors Musk's role in American spaceflight and technology, and it is already drawing attention given the pair's political ties and ongoing debate over Musk's influence in public policy and government-linked projects.
Why now: The award is generating debate because it links a top science honour to a politically close and polarising figure.
